Emerging trends of global tourism require tourism developers of the tropical areas take an environment friendly steps if they do not wish to undermine the base on which they operate. Developers of tropical resorts have to meet the demand to accommodate rising flow of people who arrive there with quite specific expectations. The tourists or visitors who travel to resorts have a centric intent - leisure and a change from their comfortable yet stressful life back at home. This allows the experience to be similar to natural conditions, but with relaxed limits. This fact can be used for resort planning to work with the environment rather than against it. And this is exactly what Amaya offers.
The architectural design of the resort is a contemporary expression of the sustainable architecture which has its roots of Bengal. The design approach is to create a healthy environment based on ecological and resource efficient principles. The experience should include in itself a design expression for guests/foreigners, in the light of Beautiful Bengal campaign by Bengal Tourism.
We provide our guests a luxurious tropical experience, close to nature, which is not available in Eastern India yet.
The 90 luxury suites is located in Uluberia which is 40 kms from the urban city and 54 kms from airport. The design appreciates the lush expanse of the water body through all its public facilities, landscape and various suites.
The design of the resort is committed to provide comfort and quality services using the resources of nature with great respect for them. The resort architecture is an inspiration from traditional Bengal Theme.
The design is woven with art in the form of sculptures, interior spaces, murals and paintings which celebrate the art capital of the country.
Conceived to be an urban getaway and event destination, the resort has plugged into the ZEN expressions of connecting man with nature.
Our master plan builds up interest within the campus of 12.5 acres, obscuring the views of industrial developments adjoining the site. Planning involved saving all existing trees at site - a total of 70. Post landscape this count today is over 130. A deliberate organic geometry of shapes and circulation creates the explorative texture and a sense of discovery and surprise within the built and unbuilt massing. The guest and service routes are separate to maintain the much needed sense of privacy and isolation for getaway guests.
Events were important component of consideration during planning, especially marriages and corporate meets. A sprawling lawn of over 100000 sqft connecting the 18000 sqft of banquet block which has a special dedicated bridal suites and Break away rooms. A dedicated kitchen and caterers’ outdoor kitchen is a due facility. Its district location ensures flexibility in connecting for a multi venue event. For a Destination Wedding AMAYA offers 6 distinctly textured event lawns and places within its boundaries.
A large manmade lake celebrating biodiversity is the tree USP at site. With over 3 acre in area, its organic shape offers interesting settings for suites and residential clusters. With over 90 key experiences, AMAYA offers 9 different experiences of stay - first level panorama, lagoon connecting, private green access, pool view, lake side suites, private lake deck suites, 2 no. presidential suites, temple end rooms and honeymoon suites.
Of these the presidential suites have a villa structure accommodating twin room, living dining, private pool, butlers pantry and private green. These 2 villa formats offers exclusive luxury experience in privacy and care.
A separate recreation and spa block with its dedicated lawn for pop up events is in all entity a CLUB for the guests. The campus is planned concerning the valued inputs of Vaastu shastra and spiritual tourism is also the intent of promoters. A contemporary or call it a ZEN hindu temple is also a part of the campus with its dedicated lawn and goushala.
Amaya's reception is infact the Welcome block orienting the guests to HOSPITALITY and the campus. It also hubs the experience center, a boutique sore, administration, events office and directors as well.
The swimming pool has a personality of its own, with jacuzzis, pool beds, lazy lagoon meandering an island and an island bar extravaganza. Landscape around it builds up the mystery pockets of privacy and revelations.
The dining and lounging facilities (all day dining, specialty restaurant and the bar lounge) orient playfully to take advantage of panoramic views of pool deck, the central court, lake side development and the inspiring array of speciality suites reflected in the tranquil lake.
The lake front is further animated with an amphitheater, performance deck, the monsoon deck, fishing deck and the "waders point". The rich aquatic biodiversity of the lake is true delight for any nature lover.
Amaya is built up with neutral shades, absorbing all shades of urban stress, with shades of nature as the only colors in application. The pure play of light and shadow by its geometry in brick renders a contemporary detail to architecture. EXPLORE SIMPLICITY, ALLOW FOR SIMPLICITY and RESTFULNESS is in order and intent. A 5 sense design attempt of engaging people with INTENDED MINDFULNESS makes it a true resort.
20 Kattah plot in amaya. Adjoining the temple complex a land patch measuring approximately 1400 sqm is reserved to develop a unique project called "sangam" curated by the architectural firm salient, responsible for conceiving the design of The Amaya Resort. The entrepreneur brothers of Bhimsaria family shall also become integral in this venture.
"Sangam" means confluence or coming together. This place shall provide a nature nest and a seeding pad for creative minds who would explore the wisdom of our cultural heritage while inventing or shaping visions for new india. The cultural heritage shared and exchanged shall be communally and socially pluralistic, free from any religious bias. The roots of Sangam shall however be derived from the philosophies of vedanta, which is not a religion but a base of lifestyle.
Targeted to be frequented by architects, interior designers, fashion designers, product designers, artists, poets, musicians, craftsmen, skill development trainers, educationists, research scholars, policy makers, corporate HR heads etc Sangam offers a fertile platform to change or evolve perspectives for new india for a sensible and sustainable future.
The infrastructure shall consist of nature cove with 4 suites, a knowledge centre (a library of past and for future), a Satvik cafe, a living cum meeting space with both formal and informal arrangements and an art studio or a workshop which would curate or help produce art by engaging young talented artists form the art capital of India - kolkata. The campus shall be designed completely in compliance of Vastu shastra.
The Satvik cafe provides food for its inmates and for any other interested guests (maximum for 20 -25 people) the food we serve is prepared for health and rejuvenation of guests in a formal manner as laid in vedanta. It would be a vegetarian diet in wake of promoting global order of sustainability.
Sangam shall operate independently by a sangam foundation core team. Any shared infrastructure of the resort shall be paid for on cost basis. However Sangam shall not conduct any activity which shall be in conflict with the operations of the resort.
Regular workshops, contact classes, orientation programmes shall be conducted - the business spill over in terms of room stays, (beyond 4 suites), food sale etc shall add in making the resort viable. This shall also attract a section of society who may be celebrities or celebrity in making. It shall increase the media buzz thus making amaya more than just any other resort.
The art produced in sangam will be sold in due course by holding regular exhibitions/shows and 5 % of the proceedings shall be parted to the resort business. Sangam shall also be an instrument in providing Satvik counselling or evening session for 2/3 days (2 hours duration maximum) on informal counselling promoting positivity, sustainable living and nature learning in life at the resort to interested guests. This shall be completely on voluntary basis and no charges shall be levied to the resort.
